Liverpool Predicted Lineup versus Bournemouth: Nunez starts?
By Evan Curnew
Liverpool will host their first match of the Premier League season as they take on AFC Bournemouth on August 19th. Liverpool drew their first match of the season against Chelsea, as did Bournemouth against West Ham. Last season Liverpool hammered Bournemouth 9-0 at Anfield which saw then Cherries manager Scott Parker get sacked. The Top Flight provides our Liverpool predicted lineup for the match.
To no surprise, Alisson will be the man in the goal again for Jurgen Klopp’s side. There were some loose links to a Saudi Arabia move for the Brazilian, but nothing is expected to transpire.
The backline, on paper again, should be made up of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil Van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson. Alexander-Arnold will be expected to move into a more midfield role as he has done so recently.
Curtis Jones could’ve been poised for a start on Saturday, but This Is Anfield is reporting that the midfielder has a slight knock. Alexis Mac Allister was very good defensively against Chelsea and will start again alongside Dominik Szoboszlai in the middle of the pitch. As The Top Flight has covered, Liverpool is very close to completing the signing of Wataru Endo from Stuttgart, but it feels likely the Japanese midfielder will be fit enough to earn a start. Cody Gakpo will finish off the midfield for the Reds.
There’s a very good chance Liverpool line up with the same attack again with Diaz, Salah and Jota, but the Portuguese striker was subbed off by Klopp in just the 66th minute. Could Darwin Nunez be in line for his first start of the season? He replaced Jota in the Chelsea match but did not fair well at Stamford Bridge either.
Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic remain out for the time being. Potential substitution options should include youngsters Ben Doak and Harvey Elliott.
Liverpool Predicted Lineup: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Gakpo, Jota, Nunez, Salah
