Earlier this month, Tyler Adams looked set to join Chelsea from Leeds United on a permanent deal after they activated his release clause worth £20m. It was reported that Chelsea’s pursuit of Moises Caicedo was not related to the activation of Adams’ release clause. Then what became a massive shock, Adams’s deal with Chelsea fell through even after his medical was completed. What caused this spur was Chelsea turning their attention to signing Romeo Lavia, in addition to Moises Caicedo. After having the move botched, Tyler Adams is now expected to land with another Premier League side.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that AFC Bournemouth has also activated Tyler Adam’s release clause. Romano states the Cherries are “optimistic” about completing a transfer for Adams from Leeds United. It is believed that Adams is open to a move to Bournemouth, making the deal a real possibility to be completed.

Leeds United are set to get their real first bit of cash this summer despite a large number of outgoings already. Quite a few players had relegation clauses in their contracts that allowed them to leave on loan, and Leeds United was not able to stand in their way. They also had an extremely low exit clause for striker Rodrigo who has departed for Qatar. Leeds will be looking to reinvest the £20m quickly as they hope to stay in the hunt for automatic promotion this championship season.

For Bournemouth, Adams can start and play in a double pivot with Philip Billing. Midfielder Jefferson Lerma departed Bournemouth this summer from Crystal Palace, and the club is yet to sign someone with a similar profile to the Colombian. Tyler Adams joined Leeds United last summer from RB Leipzig. He is a regular starter and a big contributor to the United States Men’s National Team.
