Pochettino’s Chelsea wishlist is revealed after Moises Caicedo agreement
By Evan Curnew
Mauricio Pochettino’s first Chelsea match is done and dusted as the Blues draw with Liverpool. While it is too early to make massive observations in a single game, there seems to be a game plan in place for Chelsea to play some exciting football this season.
The club is expected to announce the signing of Moises Caicedo in due time, with Fabrizio Romano already giving it a “here we go.” There are conflicting reports on how far along Chelsea’s transfer for Romeo Lavia is, but everything suggests that the Belgian midfielder will be joining Caicedo at Stamford Bridge soon. Chelsea’s £115m accepted bid for Caicedo, combined with the reported £55m bid for Lavia, adds up to a lot of money. Chelsea has sold quite a few players this summer, though, despite some Premier League fans, aren’t concerned about FFP violations.
The expectation is that Chelsea isn’t done adding, and now the rest of Mauricio Pochettino’s transfer wishlist has been revealed. Perhaps wishlist isn’t the right word given usually what Todd Boehly wants; Todd Boehly gets; even Jurgen Klopp feels that way. With the transfer window deadline a few weeks away, Chelsea will need to act quickly to bring what is still a relatively long list of targets.
The Guardian is reporting that after Moises Caicedo is finalized and announced, Romeo Lavia will be next to finish. After that, the club would like to sign Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, as The Top Flight has already covered. Also on the club’s list of positional targets is a striker, to compete with Nicolas Jackson and as well as another goalkeeper, with Kepa departing for Real Madrid.
Chelsea still have to deal with outgoings as well, though. The likes of Romelu Lukaku, Hakim Ziyech, Malang Sarr and Callum Hudson-Odoi all need to find new clubs. It is likely to be a very busy end of the window for Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali.
