It’s over as Harry Kane has left Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern Munich, an era is officially over. An era will also be beginning, though, and Ange Postecoglou will be hoping to shift the culture around the club but losing your star striker will hurt no matter what.

Tottenham have less than a month to decide if they will bring in another striker. Richarlison is expected to have an increased role this season under Postegcoglou, highlighted by his start against Brentford on August 13th. The club has also signed Argentine striker Alejo Veliz, but he is viewed as one for the future. As The Top Flight has covered, both Brennan Johnson and Gift Orban have been linked to Tottenham, but nothing is advanced on those players yet.

Spurs aren’t going to replace Harry Kane in terms of the sheer star power he has, but they can plan to bring in a striker with bags of potential to score goals. One name that has been brought up recently, funny enough, has been given stylistic comparisons to Harry Kane. That is Brighton and Hove Albion’s Evan Ferguson, who is on the scoresheet already this Premier League season. The 18-year-old striker broke through Brighton’s academy system last season after coming over from Ireland in 2021.

After the arrival of Roberto De Zerbi last season, Ferguson was eventually integrated into the senior squad and seriously impressed the Italian manager. He netted six goals in 19 Premier League matches. He also scored three goals in the FA Cup en route to Brighton’s semi-final exit versus Manchester United. This season Ferguson is expected to have an expanded role with Brighton, and his goal against Luton Town has sparked Spurs legend Gary Lineker to suggest him as a Harry Kane replacement at Tottenham.

Lineker spent three seasons at White Hart Lane in the 90s with 80 goals across 138 appearances.
