Chelsea Predicted Lineup vs Liverpool: Colwill to earn first start
By Evan Curnew
Chelsea will face Liverpool on August 13th in what will be a perfectly timed fixture between the two clubs. Unless you have been living under a rock, you will know the Moises Caicedo race has come down to both Chelsea and Liverpool with a comeback forth on who will ultimately sign the player. Both clubs have also submitted bids for Romeo Lavia.
Nonetheless, there’s a battle to be won on the pitch as well. Chelsea will be the hosts in this fixture as they hope to be able to unveil Moises Caicedo at Stamford Bridge on August 13th. The match will kick off at 16:30 local time.
With Kepa on the brink of leaving for Real Madrid, as The Top Flight has covered, Robert Sanchez will start for Pochettino’s side after recently arriving from Brighton.
Newly appointed Chelsea captain Reece James will surely have the start at right-back, while newly appointed Chelsea vice-captain Ben Chilwell is favoured to start at left-back.
Axel Disasi, who’s just joined from Monaco, could be a potential starter at centre-back for the Blues, but for now, the experienced Thiago Silva will likely start to pair with youngster Levi Colwill who will be making his senior debut for the Blues.
The middle of the park is a little harder to predict, but one man starting for sure is Enzo Fernandez. Andrey Santos could be paired in a double pivot with Enzo, but the more experienced Conor Gallagher is likely to be given the nod ahead of him. Carney Chukwuemeka started Chelsea’s last two pre-season matches in an attacking midfield role and has a solid chance of starting against Liverpool.
The attack will surely feature Mykhaylo Mudryk as a left-winger and Nicolas Jackson as a striker. Sterling should start at right-wing, given Noni Madueke is not guaranteed to be healthy.
Chelsea Predicted Lineup: Sanchez, James, Silva, Colwill, Chilwell, Fernandez, Gallagher, Chukwuemeka, Sterling, Jackson, Mudryk
