Tottenham are on the brink of losing Harry Kane as they’ve accepted a bid for the English striker from Bayern Munich. The biggest question surrounding Spurs now is who the club will bring in at the striker position to fill the void. As The Top Flight has covered, Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson is admired by the club, but there is another name that is turning heads in European football that Tottenham wants to sign.

Tottenham are eyeing a move for Gent’s Gift Orban

Orban’s rise to popularity is not something seen very often in the footballing world. He grew up and played football in Togo, where his mother hails from. After impressing in a tournament in Togo in 2021, he got invited to a showcasing tournament back in his native Nigeria. There he caught the attention of the Norwegian side Staebek. He eventually joined the club on loan before being permanently bought in the summer of 2021. Gift Orban spent not even an entire season at the Staebek and had notched 16 goals in just 22 games in the second tier of Norway. This caught the attention of the Belgian side Gent, who signed him in January of 2023.

In the second half of the 22-23 season, Orban became one of the most in-form players in the world. He scored 20 goals across 22 matches in all competitions for Gent to end the season. He also set the record for the fastest hattrick if UEFA club competitions history, taking just three minutes and 25 seconds to score three goals against Istanbul Basaksehir. He’s off to another hot start this season, having scored in his first Belgian league match and bagging a hattrick against Pogon Szczecin in UECL qualifiers.

His absolutely insane run of form has landed him interest from Tottenham, according to Gary Jacob of The Times. Tottenham has already added Alejo Veliz from Rosario Central, but with such a massive hole in the middle with Harry Kane gone, Tottenham will surely be adding another centre-forward.
