Manchester United are looking to build off last season after the arrival of Erik ten Hag. The club has gotten their biggest targets which include Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana. They still would like to bring in another midfielder in addition to Mason Mount, but that wasn’t as much of a pressing issue as the striker and keeper positions were. The club has yet to see any massive outgoings, but that looks to be changing very quickly.

Manchester United agree to sell Harry Maguire to West Ham

Fabrizio Romano reports that there’s an agreement in principle to send Harry Maguire to West Ham United for £30m. Romano states that the structure of the deal has to be finalized, but the raw numbers are agreed upon. Harry Maguire still has to agree to personal terms with West Ham, but as The Top Flight reported earlier, the defender now looks open to joining the Hammers.

Harry Maguire’s time at Manchester United has been filled with disaster but also will some unfair treatment. It is likely time for the player to leave, as his time at Old Trafford has run its course. Maguire is no longer seen as a starter under Erik ten Hag, and despite wanting to fight for his playing time, it likely would be to no avail. He recently lose his captaincy to Bruno Fernandes, which was likely the writing on the wall for Maguire that it is time to go.

For West Ham, it will be somewhat of a reclamation project. The expectation is that Harry Maguire will pair up with Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd in the West Ham defense. This will push Kurt Zouma to the bench for the time being. With Europa League matches on the schedule, Maguire will have a chance to play some big European matches as well with West Ham.
