Wolves have not added a lot of new faces this transfer window. Two of their signings, Matheus Cunha and Boubacar Traore, are joining permanently, having already been at the club on loan. They have also added Matt Doherty on a free transfer, who is back for his second spell at the club. Their only other signing is Tom King, a goalkeeper coming from Northampton who will be the third-stringer. The club has had to see star midfielder Ruben Neves depart due to concerns about FFP violations. Veterans Conor Coady and Raul Jimenez have also left the club. The selling does not end there as rising centre-back Nathan Collins has also departed for fellow Premier League side Brentford.

Their current manager Julen Lopetegui, only joined the club mid-season last year after Bruno Lage was sacked following a poor run in the Premier League. Lopetegui helped guide Wolves to Premier League safety despite an early scare. The former Sevilla manager is hoping to have a good start to the season in hopes of bringing the club back to European competition. Things have not gone so well, though, and shockingly Lopetegui could leave before the season starts.

TalkSport is exclusively reporting that Wolves and Lopetegui could part ways over disagreements on transfers. Julen has gone vocal on frustrations about the lack of signings and money available for transfers. In a recent interview, he was far to say he expects more players to depart from the club. TalkSport believes that former Bournemouth interim manager Gary O’Neil is the favourite to land the position should Lopetegui walk. O’Neil took over Bournemouth after Scott Parker was sacked and helped the Cherries achieve a 15th-place finish, five points off relegation.

Wolves will have to make a managerial decision quickly as they take on Manchester United in their opening fixture of the new season.
