Pep Guardiola has already seen some familiar faces depart Manchester City this summer. That includes the likes of Riyad Mahrez to Ah-Ahli and Ilkay Gundogan to Barcelona. The club has just added Josko Gvardiol as well, signalling both important arrivals and departures at Manchester City this summer. There is one City player who was perhaps the most linked with a move away last season that could now extend his stay at the Etihad.

Manchester City says NO to PSG and Barcelona’s advances at Bernardo Silva

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Manchester City are shouting down any offers for Bernardo Silva. Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona were heavily interested in signing the Portuguese midfielder, but they are now told City are holding onto Silva. Romano believes that Manchester City will look to offer a new contract to Bernardo Silva soon as his current one expires in 2025. As expected, what Bernardo decides to do with his future will be vital for contract negotiations to go smoothly.

Bernardo Silva has become of the best central midfielders in the Premier League under Pep Guardiola. While he will always be talked less about than midfielder partner Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo would be a massive loss to Manchester City should he leave. It’s not a surprise that both PSG and Barcelona are chasing his signature, given he would be a perfect fit for either team.

Having joined the club in 2017 from that famous Monaco side, Bernardo Silva has won 12 trophies, with Manchester City playing a huge part in a majority of those successes. Pep Guardiola is likely comfortable with the squad he has going into this season, and thus a departure would complicate how the squad will lineup. Bernardo Silva will be an important figure for City again should he stay, signalling exactly why the club wants to extend him.
