Chelsea has done a phenomenal job at shifting unwanted players away from the club this transfer window. It’s allowed the club to bring a whole load of cash that they desperately needed to balance the books. While some youngsters will go out on loan, a bulk of the deadwood has been cleared for Mauricio Pochettino.

As The Top Flight reported earlier this week, there has been a framework laid down by Juventus for a potential swap deal with Chelsea. The deal would send Lukaku and roughly £34m to Juve while Chelsea would get Dusan Vlahovic. Perhaps we aren’t on the brink of a Fabrizio Romano ‘here we go,’ but things are advancing.

Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku agrees to Juventus contract

Romelu Lukaku has reportedly agreed to a three-year contract with Juventus. The Italian club is pushing to do a swap deal with Chelsea, and the ball is now in Mauricio Pochettino’s court. It is now a matter of whether Dusan Vlahovic is wanted at Stamford Bridge and if Chelsea is willing to pay the additional money that Juventus want.

Di Marzio reports that talks between the two clubs are still ongoing, and slowly but surely, a deal is coming closer to finalization. Reports out of Italy suggest Juventus originally wanted a larger sum of money but have comprised on that valuation in order to complete a deal.

Romelu Lukaku would make shockwaves through Serie A if he joins Juventus, having played for rivals Inter between 2019-2021 and 2022-23. The Belgian striker joined Chelsea in 2021 for a second time, having previously played for the club at a much younger age. Last season on loan at Inter, Lukaku scored 14 goals across 37 matches, all competitions.

Dusan Vlahovic hasn’t exactly lived up to the hype he had around three years ago, but he is still a top striker. With 61 goals in 140 Serie A matches, it is reasonable to say Vlahovic could shine in the Premier League. Nonetheless, Chelsea fans have fallen in love with Senegalese striker Nicholas Jackson this pre-season, who Vlahovic would theoretically be competing with.
