For Manchester United, the transfer news which has circulated so far this summer has been positive. They have signed some exceptional names in Mason Mount and Andre Onana and appear to have more coming up with Rasmus Hojlund and Sofyan Amrabat’s deals close.

However, the manager Erik ten Hag has also had to think about player departures. Of course, David de Gea is the most notable of those, but it looks likely that Fred will leave the club soon too.

Nathan Bishop leaves Manchester United for Sunderland

Well, another player departure has just been made which may have gone under the radar. Goalkeeper Nathan Bishop has left the club, after he was signed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the year of 2020. Bishop wasn’t given the best start to his Manchester United career with the pandemic but in truth, it was a failed signing from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Bishop was never good enough to play for Manchester United but thankfully the 23-year-old has found his level. Bishop has signed for Sunderland, who were previously a staplepiece in the Premier League, on a three-year-deal.

Now, the goal for Bishop is to be part of the rewriting of Sunderland’s story. As mentioned, they were a regular feature in the Premier League some seasons ago before their sad downfall. Now, the family-based working class club dreams of returning to the Premier League. Certainly, big signings of younger players like Bishop will help them get there in the long-run.

From the player’s perspective, a move away was best for him. With the signing of Andre Onana, his chances of breaking into the Manchester United starting eleven depleted. That’s if there was any slither of a chance anyway. Play time is important to young goalkeepers, so he had to make the permanent switch.

Do you think Nathan Bishop will be a success?
