As talks have stalled between Chelsea and Brighton for the transfer of Moises Caicedo, the side from London have taken matters into their own hands. They have yet to pull out of the race for Caicedo, who has been given a ridiculously high valuation from Brighton, but they have done the next best thing.

Chelsea shortlist two options as Moises Caicedo alternatives

According to a report from The Times, Mauricio Pochettino has shortlisted two alternatives for Moises Caicedo. The report claims that the Argentine manager is eyeing Tyler Adams of Leeds United and Edson Alvarez of Ajax. Let it be known that the latter is also considered an option from West Ham United to replace Declan Rice.

In my opinion, either option shortlisted by Mauricio Pochettino are much better options than Caicedo. Firstly, Leeds United have been relegated so Tyler Adams is almost bound to leave the club, therefore they are inclined to sell. Secondly, Ajax are a selling club by their very nature, so they are more likely to entertain the move for Alvarez.

There does need to be more quality added to Pochettino’s midfield for next season. While it’s not exactly a dire position (no position in the Chelsea squad is dire since the squad is inflated as it is), it is the position which most lacks quality.

They lost Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic this summer, which are two departures which are not to be overlooked. Both players provided different attributes to Chelsea, however, both offered immense quality so they will be sorely missed.

Who do you think Chelsea will sign next?
