Tottenham Hotspur have some work to do in the transfer window. Only a month into his new job, Ange Postecoglou is faced with the near-impossible task of replacing Harry Kane, as the Englishman seems to be moving to Bayern Munich imminently.

Harry Kane, who is dubbed as one of Spurs’ own, has carried the club for too long with no great reward. Therefore, he is willing to give up his pursuit of the Premier League goal scoring record to chase silverware. He understands that no individual acclaim is worth giving up your honours list for.

So, for Postecoglou, the aim is to sign a forward who is not only able to score a tonne of goals but drop back and help his team as well. This is not an easy task to achieve since Kane essentially created this new desired role for strikers.

Tottenham Hotspur eye Brennan Johnson to replace Harry Kane

According to the Daily Mail, a new striker has entered Tottenham Hotspur’s shortlist. The English source claims they are eyeing Brennan Johnson of Nottingham Forest. He is set to be valued at around £50m, since the 22-year-old is highly regarded in the East Midlands.

Spurs do have a thing for signing Welsh players. Signing a young Welsh forward is reminiscent of when they signed Gareth Bale, with the rest being history. If Johnson is even half the player for Spurs that Bale, or indeed Kane, was, then this will be good business.

Spurs are without European football next season, which makes their task of replacing Kane all the more difficult. Therefore, players within the calibre of Johnson are likely the most realistic players to seek.

Improvement is the objective next season, but it’s hard to imagine Spurs won’t achieve any form of improvement given their abysmal run last time out. Postecoglou will surely get them back on the right track, with a good striker helping to achieve that.
