The media will try their best to present the narrative at Spurs of being panic-fuelled. Of course, it makes sense to portray the club in that way as they are set to lose perhaps their best player in history to Bayern Munich. However, Tottenham have an escape plan lined up, and they would like to reduce the blow felt by losing Harry Kane.

We have already reported that a replacement for Harry Kane has been lined up in Brennan Johnson. In truth, Johnson is just one of many options being looked at by Spurs. Just the other day, we lined up the 5 most tempting options on the market for Daniel Levy to consider as his club’s new striker.

But tactically, Ange Postecoglou must have his say. Perhaps he feels the funds raised are better spent elsewhere. If this is true, then a big double signing could be on the cards, as reported today.

Tottenham plan a double Barcelona raid with Harry Kane money

According to Mundo Deportivo, the money which will be achieved through selling Harry Kane is due to be spent on the double Barcelona signing of Franck Kessie and Clement Lenglet. Both players are on the fringe of first team football, and could be willing to drop out of European competition to revive their places in the first-team.

At Spurs, they would certainly be given a fair shot at making a name for themselves in the first-team. Particularly Lenglet, who would be an invaluable asset in this underwhelming Spurs defence. The defender was certainly one of the diamonds in the rough in his loan spell for the Lilywhites last season.

In many ways, this is smart business from Daniel Levy. Both Kessie and Lenglet are players who would improve Spurs and give Postecoglou more options for his lineup next season. Rather than going all out for a striker, why not tactically reshape this team.

Do you think Spurs will do an adequate job of replacing Harry Kane?
