Chelsea still have many things to sort out in the transfer window. While Mauricio Pochettino has done an adequate job of deciphering the players he would like to keep versus those he would like to sell, there is work to be done in raising the highest funds possible for the players sold.

One of those players who will immently be sold is Romelu Lukaku. He has no future at Chelsea and the fans do not like him. Pochettino would ideally like for him to be sold but if the right valuation can’t be matched, then his valuation could be used as part of a swap deal.

Chelsea could use Romelu Lukaku in a swap deal for Dusan Vlahovic

That’s right, according to the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Mauricio Pochettino would like to use Romelu Lukaku in a swap deal. It’s reported they are back in discussions with Juventus over a swap deal which will see Lukaku and Dusan Vlahovic trade clubs.

Admittedly, at first glance this transfer seems nonsensical. Chelsea, you could argue, don’t need to sign any more strikers. They have Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson, both players are doing extremely well in pre-season. It seems like a striker partnership could even be brewing between the two players, with Nkunku playing as the second striker.

However, Pochettino would like to have options. If the only option to discard Lukaku is to use him in a swap deal, then this could be a very good bit of business. Let’s not forget that Vlahovic is a potent goal scorer, he is just being used in the wrong system at Juventus.

Do you think this is a good swap deal?
