Chelsea and Brighton have been in multiple discussions throughout this summer transfer window. Admittedly, most of the dialogue has been Chelsea filing to meet Brighton’s valuation for the Ecuador midfielder Moises Caicedo. However, the Seagulls have also had failed attempts to bring in the defender Levi Colwill permanently.

While talks for Caicedo have yet to be closed, Brighton can consider their pursuit of former loanee Colwill closed. That’s if recent news from a reliable source is to be trusted, anyway.

Chelsea secure future of Brighton target Levi Colwill

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Chelsea have managed to tie down Levi Colwill to a new deal. The young defender who returned to Stamford Bridge on loan, is set to sign a contract extension until at least 2029, in what would be a phenomenal piece of business.

Of course, Colwill has been given a new lease of hope at Stamford Bridge. With Mauricio Pochettino taking charge and having a proven track record of developing youngsters into reaching their full potential, Colwill feelsl ike he is in safe hands.

The Blues never entertained a deal for Colwill. The reason they never set a valuation for him is because they never deemed him for sale at any price, despite Brighton’s continued efforts to sign him. What’s more, Colwill never pushed for a move away from London either, despite his good relationship with Roberto De Zerbi last season.

So now Brighton can consider this chapter closed. Admittedly, they have no further requirement to sign Colwill after they secured a deal for Igor Julio, but now there is definitely no chance of it happening.

Do you think Levi Colwill be a success at Chelsea?
