The latest transfer saga to occur at Arsenal is that involving David Raya. News broke around the weekend that the Brentford goalkeeper was wanted by Mikel Arteta, as he looks to add some more fearsome competition to the goalkeeper slot. Admittedly, this new search for a backup goalkeeper could be fuelled by the news that Matt Turner is also linked with a move away, so it’s precautionary from Mikel Arteta.

Either way, the hunt for a goalkeeper is certainly controversial. Some fans believe the funds are better spent elsewhere, since the Gunners already have one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League in Aaron Ramsdale, who is still young.

But Arteta isn’t giving up on his chase. He is somewhat frustrated by Brentford’s valuation of David Raya being £40m – A price Arsenal are not willing to meet for a player in the final year of his contract. Therefore, according to transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey, Arteta is weighing up the possibility of signing Robert Sanchez from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Sanchez is the biggest goalkeeper target for Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea, so the two London clubs will yet again lock horns in the transfer market.

From the player’s perspective, he would certainly get more game time at Chelsea. This could be something which draws the player since he is not getting much game time at the Amex Stadium since Steele took his place in the starting eleven. Although, at Arsenal, he will play in the Champions League. Certainly some pros and cons for him to weigh up.

Where do you think Robert Sanchez will play next season?
