Chelsea shortlist 3 attacking midfield wonderkids – Poch sees the future!
By Kian Long
It seems clear that the next transfer which Mauricio Pochettino would like to make at Chelsea is the acquisition of an attacking midfielder. Consistently over the last number of weeks, they’ve been linked with a signing in this position.
We know that Pochettino is a manager who prioritises youth development. He has a proven track record of getting the best out of the best. So when it comes to the youthful options at Chelsea, they’re in safe hands going forward.
But Poch wants to add more options to his setup. Given that his next target is to sign an attacking midfielder, ideally to replace Mason Mount (dare I mention his name), more options have been added to the shortlist.
Chelsea shortlist 3 young attacking midfield talents
According to Football London, there are three young attacking midfielders on Mauricio Pochettino’s transfer shortlist at Chelsea. Those three options are – Mohammed Kudus, the 22-year-old Ghana international from Ajax, Michael Olise of Crystal Palace (21) and Rayan Cherki of Lyon (19).
In my opinion, the best option is to go for Mohammed Kudus. He’s an exceptional and dimensional attacking midfielder who could be placed anywhere on the pitch without looking uncomfortable. In my opinion, he ticks all the boxes as Ajax will be easy to negotiate with and he is ready to take on a new challenge. The only issue is that Kudus values playing in the Champions League.
If not, then Michael Olise is the next best bet. Not only is he Premier League proven, but he wouldn’t need to relocate as he is already living in London. Olise is certainly one of the future and is ready to take the step up in his career.
Cherki is a little less proven, but still a great option. He can also play on either flank, despite his position being predominantly through the centre of midfield. Further, he is creative, so would fill the void left by Mount.
Who do you think Chelsea should sign?
