Unfortunately for fans of Tottenham Hotspur, if they haven’t already accepted the fate that Harry Kane will leave the club, then now is the time to do so.

I know it’s never easy to say goodbye to a club legend, especially a player who only seems to be getting better such as Kane. But football is a tough sport and there’s no time for sentimentality.

Ange Postecoglou would like the chance to work the club captain but he simply won’t be able to. He is joining Bayern Munich and there’s not much the new boss can do about that. What he can do, though, is look at replacements. Let’s take a look at 5 of the most likely options…

5 Harry Kane replacements on Tottenham’s transfer shortlist

1. Ivan Toney

Granted, this one is the most complicated on the list but it’s certainly possible. We reported last week that Tottenham were considering the option of signing Ivan Toney as their Harry Kane replacement.

For those that don’t know, or have been living under a rock, Ivan Toney is currently serving a suspension from football following gambling breaches. However, the England international has been training and will come back halfway through the season to look for a new club.

Toney is proven quality. We know that last season Haaland and Kane were the two best strikers in the league but when it came to the third best striker, it would’ve made sense to include Toney as an option.

Perhaps the best benefit to Spurs by signing Toney is that they’d instantly replace Kane’s penalty taking ability. Toney is just as capable at taking penalties and I would even put forward the argument that he is better at them than Kane.
