As a Manchester United fan, unless you’ve been living under a rock, you will have heard of the striker Rasmus Hojlund. He seems to be the number one choice for Erik ten Hag, who is seeking an out-and-out centre forward who can guarantee goals and quality.
The Danish striker Hojlund has been high on Manchester United’s wishlist for some time now, in fact ever since the transfer window opened. However, there hasn’t been any concrete moves made by the Red Devils, until now.
According to The Athletic, Manchester United have offered £42.8m in fixed fee plus £8.5m in adds on to Atalanta for their striker. However, this is thought to be below the Italian side’s valuation so it will take some negotiating.
Manchester United handed blow in race for Rasmus Hojlund
Unfortunately, due to the slow pace of the deal, it has allowed Hojlund time to attract interest from other clubs. While he does seem to favour the move to Old Trafford, he may be tempted by Paris Saint-Germain too.
According to Gianluca di Marzio, PSG have offered a more competitive salary to Rasmus Hojlund than Manchester United have. PSG are yet to enter negotiations with Atalanta, but they certainly have the money to spend on a new striker, with Mbappe rumoured to be on his way out.
Manchester United should have saw this coming. In all honesty, I’m surprised there wasn’t any competition sooner. Hojlund is a seriously good player and given his age, he will only get better with time.
While Hojlund doesn’t have a proven goal scoring record particularly on the big occasions, he has shown potential to be a real world beater under the right tutelage. He is surprisingly rapid for a player of his height and stature. This is why he is seen as the regeneration of Erling Haaland.
