Liverpool: Klopp’s masterplan may narrow the Romeo Lavia valuation gap
By Kian Long
Much of the transfer news surrounding Liverpool is that involving Romeo Lavia. It’s no secret that manager Jurgen Klopp is keen to bring in the ambitious teenager and return him to his rightful place in the Premier League. Of course, there will be competition for Lavia, but at this point in time, Liverpool are in pole position.
This is because the Reds are the only side to follow through on the interest in Lavia. They have been in contact with his club Southampton, who may feel forced into selling the midfielder given their relegated status.
It’s thought that Arsenal and Manchester City were also interested in signing Lavia. However, it remains to be seen whether they still hold their interest.
According to The Telegraph, the valuation gap which stands for Lavia is £15m. This means that Southampton value their teenager at £15m more than Jurgen Klopp is prepared to offer. Of course, Liverpool are run under strict financial limitations, as they have been on a self-sustaining model for some years now.
Liverpool plan to bridge the gap for Romeo Lavia
But there is good news for fans. According to the trusted source The Athletic, Liverpool plan to improve on their initial bid of £37m, which is surely set to be closer to Southampton’s valuation.
Depending on the position of other interested clubs, the Saints may or may not entertain the new bid made by the Anfield board. Of course, they will want to pick up as much money as possible on the teenager, but if Arsenal and Manchester City drop out of the race then Klopp’s master plan could mean a cheaper fee for the talented youngster.
