Chelsea’s star player hasn’t travelled with the squad – Transfer imminent!
By Kian Long
Chelsea are currently on their preseason tour. They are partaking in the Premier League summer series, where they drew to Chelsea in the early hours of this morning (BST).
Mauricio Pochettino is using this pre-season to decipher his best possible team for heading into the real Premier League next season. The Argentine manager is known for his man-management approach, but this doesn’t mean he’ll skip over looking at the squad from a macro perspective, before taking a mciro-approach to who fits his system and who doesn’t.
One player is virtually out of Pochettino’s plans, and in truth, was never really in them anyway, is Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian striker, who is one of the only players in history, to be hated by every club he’s ever played for, is looking for a new home after spending the season on loan at Inter Milan last time out.
Romelu Lukaku doesn’t travel with the Chelsea squad
As Chelsea have been playing in the preseason tour, Romelu Lukaku has remained in London. This is according to The Times and suggests that a transfer for the striker is imminent. But where will he end up?
Well, he isn’t short of options. There are many clubs who seek the signing of a striker and Lukaku is one of the only options who has outwardly stated he wants a move.
According to Calciomercato (via Goal), Juventus’ sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is due to travel to England in order to discuss a potential deal for Lukaku. So, Lukaku could return to Italy sooner than he would’ve anticipated when his loan spell ran out.
Signing for their league rivals would ensure that Inter Milan is added to the list of clubs who dislike Lukaku. However, the 30-year-old is used to this, since this has been a tale of his career so far.
Where do you think Romelu Lukaku will play next season?
