Fabrizio Romano reveals Manchester United’s first Rasmus Hojlund bid

Manchester United will undoubtedly add a top striker this window. While early in June, it seemed like a move for Tottenham’s Harry Kane was on the cards, that opportunity has now passed for the Red Devils. Next in line on United’s striker list is Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund. The Danish striker is now dominating the headlines as Erik ten Hag searches to find his starting centre-forward for the upcoming season. Manchester United’s interest in the player has been well-known now for weeks, with an official first bid the next stepping stone in completing a deal.
Fabrizio Romano is now reporting that Manchester United have sent an initial bid to Atalanta for Rasmus Hojlund. The bid is reportedly made up of a £43M fixed in a total package that could rise to £51M. Romano says that £60M is roughly the amount that Atalanta will want in order to accept a transfer for Rasmus Hojlund. With personal terms already agreed with the striker, it looks a matter of when and not if Hojlund is to Manchester United.
Reports out of Italy suggest that Manchester United could come back with a £60M bid in the coming days that will include add-ons. This is according to Alfredo Pedulla, who says United’s next bid could total £64M.
Rasmus Hojlund scored just nine goals in Serie A last season, but there is lots of optimism he will reach another level next season. A 2003-born player, Hojlund started his career with F.C. Copenhagen before making a switch to Austria with Sturm Graz. After impressing in short order in Graz, Hojlund moved to Atalanta last summer for roughly £14.5M. Hojlund has six goals in six appearances for Denmark at the senior level.
Should Rasmus Hojlund make a move to Old Trafford, he will be the club’s third summer signing, joining Mason Mount and Andre Onana as incomings.
