Sean Dyche is hard at work in the transfer market. He knows that he needs this Everton side to be stronger than it was last season. Having already brought in some experienced talent in Ashley Young, Dyche would like to go down a different route by signing an up and coming young player.

Everton are “in talks” to sign Wilfried Gnonto

According to Football Insider, Everton are currently “in talks” to sign the young Leeds United talent Wilfried Gnonto. The 19-year-old was certainly the diamond in the rough for Leeds last season, as they were relegated from the Premier League.

It could’ve easily been Everton who were relegated but they avoided that fate on the final day. Now, Dyche wants to issue Leeds a double blow by signing their best talent.

From Leeds’ perspective, though, the sale of Gnonto is inevitable. Not only do they need to raise funds to try and make their way back to the top flight, but I’m sure the board has received multiple requests from Gnonto’s agents to allow him to leave. As a relegated side, there’s only so much fighting they can do to keep him.

Undoubtedly, Gnonto will be just as sought after as another relegated teenager, Romeo Lavia. Both players are up and coming and look like they could be world beaters under the right tutelage.

Although Dyche isn’t known for his attacking football, Gnonto could certainly learn a fair bit under him. Further, Everton are a historical club and they are due to bounce back and be much better next season. If revival stories are Gnonto’s thing, then this could be an excellent step up in the youngster’s career.

Where do you think Wilfried Gnonto will play next season, if not at Leeds United?
