Declan Rice has been at Arsenal for a couple of weeks now and seems to have settled in very well. Judging by his introductory videos, where he was being shown around his new second home by manager Mikel Arteta, the record signing seemed to be very excited to get going.

Thankfully for Rice, he has been reunited with a few of his friends at Emirates Stadium, some professionals who he has had the pleasure of knowing from his time with the England national team. Well, the former West Ham captain has been full of praise for one of his England colleagues.

Declan Rice full of praise for Arsenal teammate Eddie Nketiah

Speaking to Hayters TV, Declan Rice was full of praise for Eddie Nketiah. Working together at youth level, Rice remembers Nketiah as always being a “top striker”. Further, Rice was impressed by how much Nketiah has improved, claiming that he is “always hungry”.

I have been a critic of Nketiah in the past, but Rice is right. It is impressive how even though Nketiah has never been the first choice at Arsenal, he has always shown levels of hunger whenever given the chance. He has never sulked about being in the presence of better strikers and used that to his advantage by learning from them.

Eddie Nketiah is expected to stay at Arsenal next season. Mikel Arteta is a big fan of him and as proven last season, he can provide sufficient backup to Gabriel Jesus as and when needed. With the rekindled bromance with Declan Rice, who has admittedly succeeded at a faster rate than Nketiah, this could be exactly what the fringe Arsenal striker needs to push for more next season.
