By Kian Long
Brighton and Hove Albion have proven they are not to be taken for granted in this summer transfer window. Roberto De Zerbi’s side are looking to severely strengthen as they will play in the Europa League next season, and today I bring some news which will excite fans.
Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi closes in on huge DOUBLE signing
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll be aware that a very big Brighton signing was undergoing his medical yesterday. Well, according to the Daily Mail, Igor Julio passed his medical and is expected to be announced as a new signing on the South Coast today. Oh, and as a bonus, the report also claims that they are close to signing Preston youngster Jacob Slater.
Igor Julio was an important defender for Fiorentina last season. He is part of the team which reached the final of the Europa Conference League and even came off the bench against West Ham. Although he didn’t win the final, it’s a benefit to Roberto De Zerbi that he is signing someone with huge experience in European competition, as he seeks success in the Europa League.
As for the 18-year-old talent Jacob Slater, he’s not expected to make an impact straight away but certainly could have a big future at the Amex Stadium. Brighton fans will certainly keep an eye on his development as he is capable of becoming a powerhouse under the tutelage of De Zerbi.
Brighton was a force to be reckoned with last season as they competed with some of the big dogs in the Premier League. While De Zerbi is proud, he won’t be satisfied and will instead be seeking another improvement next season, made possible by the impressive reinforcements he is making to his team this summer.
