This transfer saga has been dragging on all summer; well, technically, since April with the speculation suggesting Harry Kane was to sign for Manchester United. However, the deal was never going to work with United’s finances, and with him being a league rival then the finances would be even higher than a club buying Kane from outside of England.
However, Bayern Munich are finding out how frustrating Daniel Levy can be in terms of striking a deal with the finances with the deal not progressing as quickly as they want. Yet they still seem confident about getting the deal over the line.
The Harry Kane saga is set to continue
Bayern Munich have been the front runners for a while as they look to get themselves back onto the big stage in Europe. Despite a close call with Borussia Dortmund, they did manage to retain the Bundesliga for the 11th time, but they failed to really show up in Europe as they did in 2019/20.
The big loss they suffered was the hitman Robert Lewandowski, and they have not replaced that deadliness in front of the goal, not that that is an easy thing to do.
However, they have identified Kane as the man to do that, considering he is just 47 goals shy of the Premier League goalscoring record.
Frustations for Bayern
Levy is not a man who will let his players go for cheap or even let them go at all. However, with just one year left on Harry Kane’s contract, he might be tempted to cash in on him.
The main frustration has come from Levy not putting a price valuation on the England record goalscorer. Bayern is unable to open the negotiations properly because Levy is playing hardball.
Yet reports are suggesting that Levy will want £100 million for him, but Bayern could be tempted with a deal representing £86 million and a player.
Is PSG interested?
It is not just Bayern Munich who wants the England captain but also the big hitters in France. With speculation that Kylian Mbappe is set to leave for Saudi Arabia in a mega deal, they have a goalscoring talent to replace, and with money, no real object, then they are willing to pay what it takes to sign Kane.
However, to show their intent, the German champions have left chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen and technical director Marco Neppe at home to deal with Tottenham Hotspur to strike a deal before PSG does.
Could it all be for nothing?
All this interest in Harry Kane does not mean Kane wants to leave, especially if it was to be a side abroad as he chases that Premier League record.
With reports coming out every day about Kane, it is hard to keep track of it all! Could Kane join one of the big European clubs? Could Kane stay with Spurs? Could Kane still join United, or will he move on a free next summer?
