Fabrizio Romano says West Ham have bid £40m for Chelsea midfielder

West Ham United are currently in the process of rebuilding their midfield. They would ideally like to bring in a homegrown player who is young and able to aim for the legacy which their former captain Declan Rice of Arsenal left behind.
David Moyes is also wary that he will manage his side in the Europa League next season, meaning there will be limited rest for his squad of his players. Therefore, depth is key to ensure the ability to rotate the squad if and when necessary.
Thankfully for West Ham fans, though, there has been movement in this regard. David Moyes has compiled a shortlist of worthy midfielders who could replace Declan Rice at the London Stadium. Yesterday, we reported that the Hammers were confident of signing Edson Alvarez from Ajax. However, recent activity suggests otherwise.
West Ham United submit £40m bid for Conor Gallagher from Chelsea – He is seen as Declan Rice’s successor
According to the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, West Ham have submitted their opening bid for Conor Gallagher. It is thought that £40m was offered to Chelsea last night, and there is yet to be a response from Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Certainly, Gallagher would be a great option for David Moyes. Unlike Alvarez, he has Premier League experience and would not have to acclimatise. He would be ready to shine straight away and would likely appreciate remaining in London.
A response from Chelsea is expected within the coming days. Could you see Conor Gallagher in a West Ham shirt next season?
