Manchester United took on rivals Arsenal on July 22nd at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. While just a friendly, the history between the clubs means there was always going to be bragging rights on the line. United manager Erik ten Hag even said before the match, “We don’t play friendly games,” when referencing the fixture. In the early second half, Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo had an injury scare. It’s hard to pinpoint what play caused Diallo to feel pain, but he faced a few tackles that, at the time, he was able to play through. Around the 54th minute, Diallo went down off the ball and had to be taken out of the game.

Manchester United fans feared the worse once it was seen that Amad Diallo was on crutches post-game. The 21-year-old winger enjoyed a phenomenal loan spell at Sunderland last season, and fans are now hoping he can take the next step at United. Thankfully, it was revealed by Amad Diallo himself that his injury will not be long-term and that he may be back sooner than anticipated.

"“I feared the worst. Alhamdoulilah it’s nothing serious! I will be back soon” via Instagram."

Manchester United defeated Arsenal 2-0 in their US tour match. New captain Bruno Fernandes scored the opener, while Jadon Sancho opened his pre-season account with the second for the Red Devils. There was tons of rotation in the game, but for the first half, it was the best on-best for both Manchester United and Arsenal. 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo was a standout in the Manchester midfield, with the youngster getting high praise from fans.

Manchester United will take on Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s Wrexham on July 26th at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego. The roster will be composed of the younger players training with the senior squad and the U21 players, who are already in San Diego.
