It’s not been an amazing summer for West Ham fans. After their monumental European win in Prague, the Hammers have not followed the same momentum in the transfer window. In fact, it’s been all about losing their best players so far. Most notably, they obtained a British record fee while losing their club captain.

Legend Michail Antonio keen to leave West Ham for Al-Ettifaq

Unfortunately for the West Ham faithful, I bring further bad news. According to Football Insider, club legend Michail Antonio is keen to make the switch to Saudi Arabian football, by joining Steven Gerrard’s side Al-Ettifaq.

What’s worse for West Ham is that they won’t have too much money to reinvest back into the squad, since the deal is set to be for around £10m. Seems like a measly fee when you think of all Antonio has done for United.

This further adds to West Ham’s need to sign a striker this summer. While I’m sure this was high on David Moyes’ priority list anyway, the departure of Antonio will surely spark him into action.

For context, this would be the third club legend who West Ham will lose this summer. After already losing Manuel Lanzini and Declan Rice, losing Antonio is the icing on the cake.

But still, this could be the sign of better times in London. Let’s not forget, the Hammers will play in the Europa League next season, which is sure to attract a better calibre of players. There are plenty of great strikers on the market, with West Ham’s pull factor increased from their success last season.

I would expect the coming weeks to be all about Moyes’ hunt for a new striker. Stay tuned for updates as and when they happen.
