Chelsea are continuing their rebuild this summer transfer window. Plenty of unwanted players have departed the club, while youth signings have been a staple theme in the club’s transfer strategy this window. Chelsea still needs to focus on selling the likes of Hakim Ziyech and Romelu Lukaku. Youngsters Diego Moreira, Cesare Casadei and Angelo may also seek out loans for the season. Ultimately, space will clear for additional signing in the midfield and attack for Chelsea. That presents an exciting opportunity to sign someone such as Mohammed Kudus, who is now touted as a possible signing for the club.

David Ornstein reports that Chelsea has discussed with Ajax about a potential move for Kudus. An official bid has yet to be tabled, but Chelsea has a legitimate interest in Mohammed Kudus. Ornstein states that personal terms between the club and the player are close to being agreed upon. Additionally, it is being reported that the Ghana International rejected a contract extension with Ajax earlier this year. With Mohammed Kudus pushing for a move away, Chelsea are now positioning themselves to pounce on a transfer. With a new season closing in on us, Chelsea fans are getting excited at the prospect of a new-look attack.

Kudus enjoyed a breakout season for Ajax in their latest campaign. He recorded 11 goals and four assists in 30 Eredivisie matches. Kudus is also a part of Ghana’s World Cup squad for Qatar, bagging a brace against South Korea in group-stage play.

It was reported earlier this week that rivals Arsenal are also keeping tabs on the player’s situation. The Daily Mail believes that Ajax rates the midfielder at £40M. Arsenal will have to focus on a large number of outgoings first, though. The signings of Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber and Kai Havertz mean the club needs to bring funds back into the club before another significant transfer.

Arsenal isn’t the only club Chelsea will battle for Kudus’s signature. The Athletic reported earlier this month that Brighton is also interested in signing Kudus, but a move is highly unlikely at this point.
