We know that Manchester United are in the market for a striker. This has been the case since the transfer window opened and while targets may have changed, Erik ten Hag has made it very clear he desires a new striker.
Marcus Rashford played as the striker last season but he would be happy to return to his more comfortable wide position next season. Therefore, it is pivotal for the success of Manchester United next season that they sign an out-and-out striker, particularly given their return to the Champions League.
The name which crops up the most is Rasmus Hojlund. The 20-year-old Danish striker is thought to be the regen of Erling Haaland given his sheer height and frightening pace. However, Atalanta could hold a strong position on his value and if they refuse to lower it, then Erik ten Hag will be forced into considering other options.
Manchester United consider Randal Kolo Muani as Rasmus Hojlund backup
According to ESPN, if Atalanta don’t lower their 70m euro asking price for Hojlund, then Manchester United will consider signing Randal Kolo Muani from Eintracht Frankfurt instead. Muani is four years older than Hojlund but is still yet to enter the best period of his career. Therefore, he is a wise backup.
Muani was one of the best players in the Bundesliga last season, scoring an impressive 15 goals (best in the league). More impressively, he contributed to 14 assists, taking his total goal contribution to 29.
So, it’s fair to say that Muani knows what he’s doing in the opponents half. He would certainly be fit for playing under Erik ten Hag and he could be the difference between winning the league. All I will say is that I’m surprised loads of teams aren’t queuing up to sign him.
