Manchester United are planning to add to their summer spending by bringing in the position of ultimate concern – an out-and-out striker. While Marcus Rashford did a good job while playing as striker last season, it is not his chosen position, therefore, Erik ten Hag would like to invest in a goal scorer for next season.
Earlier in the transfer window, the links were more optimistic with Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen. However, Ten Hag has been forced into considering budget-friendly options given his spending on Mason Mount and Andre Onana. Therefore, he has opted for his long-term target, Rasmus Hojlund.
Manchester United prepare their opening bid for Rasmus Hojlund
As per the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have “100%” agreed on personal terms with Rasms Hojlund. Given that the player wants to sign for United, the club plans to take the next step which is to submit their first official bid. This is expected to happen soon.
Despite the Red Devils being interested in Hojlund since before the transfer window opened, they haven’t submitted any bid to Atalanta for the player. It’s thought the Serie A side will ask for €65/70m, as per Romano.
This transfer fee is certainly something for Erik ten Hag to consider. While he would be a good addition at that price, it would help massively if the clubs can negotiate a smaller fee.
Some important factors to consider is that Hojlund doesn’t have a proven track record of scoring consistently. Playing for a club the size of Manchester United in the Champions League, this has to be considered. I don’t know, it just feels like United are suffering from the Premier League tax.
Do you think Manchester United will sign Rasmus Hojlund?
