This summer was always going to be about selling players for Chelsea. While they are by no means a selling club usually, Todd Boehly has forced new manager Mauricio Pochettino into trimming the squad early doors. This is because the American businessman has overspent with no reward in recent seasons.
A midfielder who was one of the first to be shown the exit door is Mateo Kovacic. Now representing the champions Manchester City, Chelsea are left with a hole in their midfield which must be filled. Most notably, they need a deep midfielder who has the accurate range of passing and ability to hold possession to replace Kovacic’s attributes.
Of course, the main transfer target for Mauricio Pochettino is Moises Caicedo of Brighton. Whether or not the Blues can reach an agreement with the Seagulls remains to be seen but Poch certainly won’t give up on his main target.
Chelsea will bid again for Moises Caicedo
With Arsenal announcing the signing of Declan Rice, it is clear that they are out of the race now. Therefore, there will be little to no competition for Caicedo this summer. The only hindrance to Poch is that De Zerbi’s board of directors are incredibly difficult to negotiate with – hence why Caicedo has been chased since the start of this year.
According to Standard, Chelsea will submit an improved £70m bid for Moises Caicedo. Further, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that communications are happening directly between the two clubs, so the Blues hope to get another proposal together by this week.

It's not about official bids as Chelsea-Brighton are discussing directly club to club; but proposal will be improved, more than £70m fixed.
