Reigning defending Premier League champions Manchester City are set to make some big moves this offseason to keep improving their roster and challenging for trophies next season. The Sky Blues just got used to winning, and they’re not stopping anytime soon.

They haven’t seen anybody leave except for Ilkay Gündoğan this summer, but the team knows more departures could happen if the right offers come along. Riyad Mahrez could shockingly leave too, and the team needs to move fast to replace their missing pieces.

That said, they are also studying options to bolster their ranks ahead of a challenging 2023/24 season where they’ll defend multiple championships.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Pep Guardiola’s team has set its eyes on Bayern’s Frenchman Benjamin Pavard, who they see as a potential replacement for 34-year-old Kyle Walker.

After spending many years at Tottenham and joining City, where he collected plenty of silverware, Walker could join another European giant. This is in case the German side decides to work on a swap involving Walker and Benjamin Pavard.

Both Manchester City and Bayern have big expectations coming into next season, and they could even clash during the knockout stages of the 2023/24 Champions League. Walker keeps playing at a high level, helping the English side win everything last season, while Pavard is seven years younger, entering his prime, and set to find new challenges.

According to Sport1 journalist Kerry Hau, Manchester United and Juventus are poised to join this race and lure Pavard away from Etihad Stadium.

If they do so, it’ll be a great pick for every team, but given the leverage Manchester City has with Walker, the situation might be complex for United and Juventus.

City has made sure to bring the right players on board in recent years, and adding a talent like Pavard will boost their chances to defend their titles next season when everybody will try to beat them at any cost.
