Arsenal have been active in the transfer window up until now. They have announced the signing of Kai Havertz and the announcements for Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice are imminent. While Mikel Arteta will want to bring in some more additions, he will soon turn his attention to the players who will leave.

With Granit Xhaka already leaving the club, more are expected to follow. Having received a bid from Besiktas for one of the fringe defenders, a trusted journalist has claimed this will be rejected.

Arsenal will reject shocking bid for Rob Holding

Indeed, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Besiktas has submitted a €2.5m (around £2.1m) bid to sign Arsenal defender Rob Holding. Ornstein claims that this is “far below” what the club feels they can get from Besiktas or elsewhere, therefore it’ll be rejected.

Understandable. Look, I’m not Holding’s biggest fan and I have dubbed him as one of the players I want to leave this summer. However, to sell him for a measly €2.5m would be embarrassing and pointless. More can be made for Holding.

Arsenal have signed Jurrien Timber, a centre back who can play as a right back. Therefore, Holding has fallen further down the pecking order. Given that he is only likely to play in cup games next season, it is in his best interest to consider moves elsewhere. Despite being a loyal servant to the club and stepping up when needed, he is surplus to requirements at this stage.

Do you think Arsenal should sell Rob Holding?
