Arsenal returned to action after a long break yesterday. They kicked off their official pre-season campaign against Nurnberg and it was a chance for fans to see some widely spoken about players. For example, Kai Havertz made his debut, Ethan Nwaneri played well, Folarin Balogan was given a chance. These are all names which those who keep up with transfer news would be interested to see.

Interestingly, the last player listed there Balogun, had an absolute stinker. He had the perfect opportunity to score a brace. In fact, given that both chances were open goals, it was probably easier to score than miss. Still, it was interesting to watch him play as there’s no doubting he’s going to be a great player wherever he ends up.

Mikel Arteta speaks out about Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun

Speaking after the game, Mikel Arteta spoke out about the striker’s situation. He was very respectful and didn’t give too much but his comments, as relayed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, demonstrate that Arteta is open to selling Balogun.

There are, of course, many clubs interested in signing Balogun. Having had a successful loan spell in Ligue 1 last season, he returns to Arsenal demanding first-team football. This, unfortunately, is something that Arteta cannot offer since Gabriel Jesus beats him in the pecking order. Therefore, it makes sense that clubs who can offer him game time are lining up to sign him.
