Manchester United are active in the transfer market, with their next signing expected to be Andre Onana from Inter Milan. Having thought to have secured the signing of a goal-stopper, next, Erik ten Hag would like to turn his attention to a goal-scorer.

Manchester United consider signing Joao Felix

According to ABC (via Metro) Manchester United are even considering the signing of Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid. The Portugal international striker returned to the footballing capital, after a failed loan spell at Chelsea. But with his relationship with Diego Simeone in pieces, he is almost certain to leave permanently.

If Manchester United would like to pursue the signing of Joao Felix, they will inevitably face competition. According to the report, big spenders Newcastle United are interested, along with Europa Conference League side Aston Villa.

Joao Felix is world class on his day. Unfortunately, this hasn’t been shown over the last few seasons. In fairness, he wasn’t abysmal at Chelsea and was probably one of their better players, but he didn’t do nearly enough to pull them out of the rut they were in last season.

He has the ability to score or provide goals, which is what Erik ten Tag would want. While he isn’t n out-and-out number 9, he does have the ability to fulfil that role if required.

Still, Felix remains just an option. Until there are signs of concrete interest through the form of negotiation or bidding, we can consider Felix to be second in the hierarchy, since there have been some concrete moves made for Rasmus Hojlund by Erik ten Hag.
