“Green light” Fabrizio Romano confirms Liverpool veteran could leave
By Kian Long
A very big talking point in this summer transfer window is the Saudi Pro League. Having already signed some HUGE names in Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante this summer, the clubs are not done there. Instead, they are now looking to bring in another new name in the shape of Liverpool’s captain.
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson agrees to join Saudi
That’s right. According to the trusted transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Jordan Henderson has agreed a deal in principle to join Al-Ettifaq. Fans will recognise the name, since it is the new club which Steven Gerrard will manage from next season. The Liverpool legend is close to signing the club’s captain.
Romano claims that there are only negotiations between the two clubs. Klopp has already contacted Henderson and a green light has been given from the manager.
This move is understandable. Henderson has achieved it all with Liverpool and is looking to prioritise game time in another club. Signing in Saudi is perfect for the midfielder because it means he won’t become a direct rival to Liverpool, either domestically or in Europe.
For Al-Ettifaq, though, this signing is HUGE. Not only because of the stature he would bring to the club but the experience, too. Henderson is an excellent passer of the ball and his work rate is second to none. Therefore, it’s understandable why Gerrard wanted to sign him, there’s a little bit of Gerrard in the way Henderson plays.
Do you think Jordan Henderson will be a success in Saudi Arabia?
