Goodison Park seems to be the centre of speculation at the moment. They are looking to avoid a relegation battle for the third year in a row and many names are being linked to Everton and Sean Dyche as he looks to construct a team who will be safe next year in the Premier League.

There have been links with Anthony ElangaAshley Young and Wilfried Gnonto but the latest link is for an experienced striker who knows how to score Premier League goals.

26 caps and 7 goals for England

Jamie Vardy is the man being linked with one last shot at the Premier League and at 36 years old it will certainly be his last chance. However, there is no doubting that Jamie Vardy knows where the back of the net is. Rising up from non league, Vardy was a late bloomer but has still managed to get himself to 15th in the Premier League 100 club with 136 goals for Leicester City.

Last year was a struggle for Vardy who only managed 3 league goals last season but that has not stopped Dyche’s interest in the veteran striker.

Will the deal go through?

With Leicester City back in the Championship for the first time since 2013/14 there is expected to be an exodus of players and that can be seen with James Madison heading to Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the window.

At the age of 36 and with the relegation, Everton are confident they can get Vardy for a small fee. Having tried and failed to sign him in January, Dyche is set on Vardy joining the Everton ranks and hoping his experience and passion will reignite the Everton squad.

Can Everton just rely on Vardy?

Probably not as was seen last year, he was run into the ground by a desperate Brendan Rodgers and later Dean Smith. However, with his experience and a fully fit Dominic Calvert-Lewin, then Everton might well have a deadly strike force.

Vardy could well be a great influence on the Everton squad.
