Arsenal are potentially the hottest team in the world with regards to the summer transfer window. They have made three signings which puts them on course to challenge for the title next season, having spent £200m. But Mikel Arteta isn’t done there, he wants to put the icing on the cake and destroy Real Madrid’s dreams in the process.

Arsenal consider signing Real Madrid target Gabri Veiga

That’s right. According to Nacional (via Football365), Arsenal pose a real threat to Real Madrid’s transfer plans, as they could put forward a bid in the next few days to sign Gabri Veiga.

Veiga, who plays as a central midfielder for Celta Vigo, is seen by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez as the solution to their midfield future. However, Los Blancos do not plan to sign him this summer, next summer is the time. The Gunners have other plans, though, and could steal Veiga before it’s too late for Madrid to respond.

Signing Veiga would be a real statement of intent from Arsenal. Not only would it prove that the club has pulling power, but it demonstrates that Mikel Arteta has a vision and will not let any club, regardless of how big they are, prevent that from happening.

Of course, Declan Rice and Kai Havertz have already signed as midfielders, these deals replace the two most likely to depart Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey. However, signing Veiga, even if only for depth, will put the Gunners in a much greater position to overcome any adversity they may face next season.

Where do you think Gabri Veiga will play next season?
