Manchester United plan to have a very productive summer transfer window. Given that they were close to the title mid-way through last season before giving it up, Erik ten Hag needs it. There is nobody better for the job, but the board must listen to his wishes and back him financially in the window.

Having already signed Mason Mount, it is thought that Ten Hag is pleased with this signing but not satisfied. There is still more work to be done in the midfield, particularly given the potential departures of Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek.

Manchester United hold talks with Sofyan Amrabat

According to journalist and Bundesliga transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United have held talks with Sofyan Amrabat of Fiorentina. Although talks are not near the advanced stage, Plettenberg has dubbed this as a hot transfer topic for later in the window. Bayern Munich are also interested in the midfielder.

Sofyan Amrabat is a terrific player as proven in the World Cup last year. Let’s not forget, he also featured in the Fiorentina side which went to the final of the Europa Conference League too. In the World Cup, he helped his side Morocco to being the most advanced African team in the competition’s history, with some incredible solo displays throughout the tournament.

Long story short, wherever Amrabat goes, he is hungry to achieve. You could argue this as a good thing but he has always been a big fish in a small pond, therefore hasn’t had the opportunity to win a trophy since 2020 when he won the Belgian Pro League with Club Brugge. Previously, he won three honours with Feyenoord in the Netherlands.

Now he is hungry to challenge for some prestigious silverware, including the Champions League and Premier League. Therefore, Manchester United presents a good challenge for him. Imagine him and Mason Mount in the midfield, with the class of Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro too!

Do you think Sofyan Amrabat will sign for Manchester United?
