Since you’re reading this article then I assume, like me, you are fighting the urge to refresh Arsenal’s Twitter feed for the billionth time today. I bet you’re also confused as to what’s taking them so long to announce the two latest signings Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice.
Arsenal could announce Jurrien Timber ASAP
Well, as luck would have you, there has actually been an update on the announcement of Jurrien Timber from Ajax. According to the Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth on Twitter, The Gunners plan to include new signing Jurrien Timber in their first pre-season friendly, which is in two days time against Nurnberg.
Arsenal hope to have Jurrien Timber move sorted in time for him to be part of squad for Nurnberg game on Thursday & plan is to have Declan Rice done so he can fly out for pre-season tour of the States on Sunday. #AFC

Since they plan to potentially hand Timber his debut, this means they’ll need the deal finalised and announced as soon as possible. Given that this update was provided yesterday and Timber is still yet to be announced, I can only assume it’ll be today, if not tomorrow that he is announced.
It’s been a waiting game for some time now, and while annoyance isn’t the word to describe it (why would fans be annoyed about a signing in the calibre of Timber?), anticipation is the right word.
It’s a weird feeling, for sure. We as fans know that Timber is an Arsenal player. The whole world does at this point. Yet we crave that reassurance for some reason. There are, of course, complications with announcing a signing. For example, BOTH clubs need to agree on a time, there are lawyer and sponsorship concerns, player priorities, etc.
Long story short, I wouldn’t want to be the Twitter admin reading the thousands of “announce Timber” tweets per minute. But the anticipation only means the official announcement will pop off – let’s hope that’s today.
Where do you think Jurrien Timber will play?
