If their recent moves are anything to go by, Liverpool are in the process of building an unstoppable midfield for the future. Having signed Alexis Mac Allister early doors and recently adding Dominik Szoboszlai, Jurgen Klopp is serious about this project.

However, although the German international will be happy with his new acquisitions, he won’t be satisfied. He knows that with the ageing Liverpool midfield, there is more to be done before the club can call this rebuild “job done”.

Sensibly given their budget, Liverpool are assessing cheap options. However, cheap doesn’t have to mean bad. In fact, there is one option on the market which is incredibly cheap given his list of pros.

And that player is Romeo Lavia. The Southampton teenager is young, versatile AND boasts Premier League experience. The reason he is available for cheap is because the Saints must get some money together to rebuild their squad.

According to Florian Plettenberg, talks between Liverpool and Romeo Lavia are concrete and ongoing. There is no agreement on personal terms, but Klopp wants the player.

It must be addressed that the player prefers Arsenal. This was reported weeks ago and is likely the reason why the Reds are struggling for personal terms. Lavia will know there are better options which will approach him than Liverpool, so understandable he is holding firm.

Should Arsenal follow through with their interest, to me, it would be a no brainer to join Mikel Arteta’s project.

Where do you think Romeo Lavia will play next season?
