There has been yet ANOTHER swing in the Declan Rice roundabout. But this time, it’s a swing which Arsenal fans aren’t happy about.

Last week, fans were excited by the realisation that West Ham had removed the option to buy a shirt featuring Declan Rice’s name. This surely meant that it was confirmed he’d be leaving and joining Mikel Arteta’s side, right?

Well, it turns out, that may have been a mistake. An Arsenal fan on Twitter has expertly and quickly noticed that with the launch of the new kit, West Ham have re-added Rice’s name to their shirt list. Dean James, who is an Arsenal fan and freelance writer, described the move as “very sneaky”.

Of course, while I can see where this view is coming from, it is important to remember that Rice is still a West Ham player. Further, he is a fan favourite, especially with the younger generation of West Ham fans. Therefore, it’s understandable that the club wishes to include him out of respect while he is still technically under contract with them.

Besides, it’s not exactly their fault that Arsenal have taken so long to get this deal over the line. And I say this as a fan myself who is constantly refreshing Twitter to see when Rice is announced.

On that note, the time frame is still rather vague. It’s been reported that both Rice and other new signing Jurrien Timber will be announced “this week”.
