Liverpool Transfer News – Arsenal expected to jump for Romeo Lavia after securing Rice signing
According to Neil Jones via CaughtOffside, Arsenal are expected to move for Southampton’s Romeo Lavia once they finalize the details of Declan Rice’s transfer. It has been well-reported now that Romeo Lavia is a top target for Liverpool, so it looks like a transfer war may commence.
Both Arsenal and Liverpool have seen massive overhauls to their midfield this summer. Dominik Szboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister have made their way to Liverpool. Kai Havertz and soon Declan Rice will join forces in North London. This will be a situation to watch in the coming weeks as Liverpool make contact with Southampton over Lavia and Declan Rice is officially announced by Arsenal.
Liverpool Transfer News – United signing Mason Mount was offered a nearly identical contract by Liverpool
Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic has detailed the Mason Mount transfer saga that took place this summer. Now officially a Manchester United player, Mason Mount had the opportunity to join Liverpool, but negotiations did not advance. Whitwell reports that Mason Mount will be on roughly £200k-a-week to start, with the salary potentially reaching £250k. This is apparently a similar salary that was offered to Mason Mount by Liverpool and his former club, Chelsea. Liverpool, of course, pivoted and moved onto different targets who will be making much less a week than Mason Mount.
Liverpool Transfer News – Multiple academy players could seek loan deals this summer
Also, in his recent CaughtOffside piece, Neil Jones has pointed to some Liverpool youngsters who could see loans or departures this summer. As The Top Flight has reported, Nat Phillips is a prime candidate to be sold this summer amid interest from Leeds and Feyenoord. Jones sees centre-back Sepp van den Berg heading back to the Bundesliga, while Billy Koumetio, who was on loan at Austria Vienna, could be loaned out again. Layton Stewart and Scottish wonderkid Ben Doak are also ones to watch for loans this summer.
