Liverpool join Arsenal in the race to sign Premier League midfielder
By Kian Long
Liverpool don’t have the budget to keep up with the big six clubs at the best of times – let alone this season, where they no longer have the additional Champions League allocation. Still, they’ve made the self-sustained transfer strategy work before so I’m sure they can pull it off again.
Further, Liverpool have already pulled off the deal of the summer so far by signing Alexis Mac Allister for cheap from Brighton and Hove Albion. Still, Jurgen Klopp is not satisfied with his midfield options and would like to strengthen more in this area.
For that, the Reds have turned to an Arsenal transfer target.

Liverpool join Arsenal in the race to sign Romeo Lavia
That’s right. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have contacted Southampton to ask for the conditions of a Romeo Lavia deal. They are now in the race with Arsenal as the two most likely clubs, although Chelsea and Manchester United are also monitoring his situation. It remains fair game with none of the four clubs submitting any opening bid.
When there’s a player of Romeo Lavia’s quality at such a young age, he is bound to receive interest from the biggest clubs. When you add into the equation that he plays for a relegated club, which means he is almost certain to leave, it’s no surprise to see so many big clubs listed.
Should Liverpool secure the signing of Lavia, their midfield would boast some young options with plenty of Premier League experience already. Certainly, this deal makes sense from Klopp’s perspective.
