Liverpool eye Konate’s former teammate as newest midfield signing

One position which Liverpool really need to prioritise in this transfer window is the midfield position. This is one area of the squad which they have severely neglected in recent transfer windows and the price is being paid, with quite frankly a lacklustre midfield of ageing and out-of-form players.
With Naby Keita and James Milner recently securing their moves away from Liverpool, this only depletes Klopp’s options further. This proves as a demonstration to the board that they must invest heavily into the midfield for next season.
In fairness, Liverpool did secure themselves the best signing of the summer so far by landing Alexis Mac Allister for a bargain fee. He comes in with a wealth of Premier League experience already and having already won the World Cup, he is the type of player to build a midfield around.
Thankfully for fans, Klopp isn’t done there. Indeed, the Liverpool Echo has reported the German manager’s interest in Kouadio Kone. At this point in time it’s just registered interest as no bid has been lodged or even planned. However, Kone would be a good option and the deal makes sense given Liverpool’s budget.
Hilariously, the report has dubbed Kone as “the next Moises Caicedo”, but to me this just feels like a desperate dig at Manchester United and Chelsea since Kone is actually older and has more experience than Caicedo. But sure, I’m certain he won’t be offended by the statement that he should aim to follow in the footsteps of a player younger than him.
Do you think Liverpool will Kouadio Kone?
