Given their participation in the Champions League next season, Newcastle United are really upping their efforts to strengthen Eddie Howe’s squad and therefore his chances of succeeding in the competition.

It is no secret that Newcastle possesses a level of wealth which was not always associated with a working-class family club like them. Still, the fans are mostly on board with the financial takeover. Further, it does not take away from the exceptional work put in by Howe and his players to finish in the top four of the Premier League last season.

With news breaking today that they are advancing with their interest in Joachim Andersen of Crystal Palace, they are also seeking another player with Premier League experience. Although, this one is a significantly higher calibre than Andersen (and I mean that as no disrespect).

Newcastle United interested in signing Sadio Mane

According to Bild, Bayern Munich are open to selling Sadio Mane. This is likely a result of his lack of morale following the very public fall out with teammate Leroy Sane. Of the interest clubs listed by Bild, Newcastle are very high on the list.

This move would make sense. Newcastle are putting great effort into improving their midfield and attack and Sadio Mane has plenty of experience on the big stage. Playing for both Southampton and Liverpool, he has Premier League experience and most importantly, he is a renowned Champions League winner, with this competition treating him well.

Mane coming in would be a perfect signing for Howe. The English boss likes his front line to ruthlessly press, a tactic which has been popularised in England by none other than Jurgen Klopp. Therefore, if the Magpies aim to create a pressing attack, then bringing in one of the masters in this field, Mane, makes a lot of sense.

Do you think Newcastle will sign Sadio Mane this summer?
