There is still hope for Arsenal, but they must act now.
Those that stay up to date with transfer news will be aware of recent movements which have happened today. But for those who live under a rock, allow me to explain.
Manchester City have put together a financial package to sign Declan Rice from West Ham United. Not only would Pep Guardiola be strengthening his side but he would prevent one of his main title rivals from strengthening by hijacking their main transfer target.
Unfortunately for Arsenal, this does put a spanner in the works. Of course, Man City are a financial powerhouse at the best of times but when you consider that their opening bid leads the race, it doesn’t look good for Mikel Arteta.
One thing which does work in Arsenal’s favour is time. West Ham are in no rush to sell Declan Rice, so they’ll hold out for the best deal. This is just my opinion, but I cannot see West Ham accepting the potential bid from City. Particularly when you consider that Arsenal plan to bid again.
Fabrizio Romano issues Declan Rice ultimatum to Arsenal
Although, Arsenal must be quick AND efficient with their next bid. This has been echoed by Fabrizio Romano, as he has issued a final ultimatum that whichever club wants to sign Rice the most has to “show it now”.

We know how big of a fan Arteta is of Declan Rice. There may be clubs which come and go in this race, but Arsenal were the first to show interest in Rice this transfer window. Therefore, it’s clear what Arteta’s intent is but he must SHOW it, which is helped by the financial backing of the board, for sure.
Who do you think will sign Declan Rice?
